When you have a canker sore inside the lip of your mouth, the question you want answered is how can I get rid of of canker sores?

Whether it be from too much stress in your life, or from eating the wrong types of food, or any other reason, having a canker sore is not an enjoyable experience to say the least. So, what are some canker sore treatments to help in getting rid of it as soon as possible? Here are some home remedies to help.

Acidophilus – Many folks are known to take 2-3 acidophilus tablets 3-4 times a day as a canker sore treatment. The key is to be sure the capsules have live cultures. Yogurt is another good option that contains the same ingredient.

Plum Juice – Use 1-2 tablespoons of plum juice as a mouth wash and rinse with it for 2-3 minutes. Or, take a cotton ball soaked in plum juice and hold it against the canker sore for a few minutes.

Wet Tea Bag – You can take a used tea bag and press it against the canker sore for several minutes. How does this help in providing relief? The tea bag contains tannic acid which helps to relieve pain and also cure the canker sore.

Onion – Although I’ve not tried it, people swear by this canker sore treatment. Take a chunk of raw onion and hold it against the infected sore for a few minutes.

Sorrel – Place a piece of sorrel up against your sore until it becomes wet and soggy. What the sorrel will do is relieve the pain immediately and help in healing it. Sorrel has been used for many different skin problems for many years.

Sage – You can take sage and make it into a tea. Use the tea as a mouthwash and rinse your mouth with it several times per day. American Indians have used sage extensively over the years as a medical treatment for skin ailments.

Copper Sulfate – This canker sore remedy is an old one. Copper Sulfate is known as an astringent. Be prepared, it will burn for a moment once you apply it, but as a canker sore treatment, it flat out works. The sore should disappear within two days at most.

When you find yourself getting a canker sore, try one of these remedies. I think you’ll be happy with the results.
