When acid goes up to the esophagus, it causes a burning sensation in the stomach or chest, which is called heartburn. The stomach contains acid, to break down and digest your food. However, when strong stomach acids move up to the esophagus the sensitive tissue becomes inflamed and results in heartburn. There are many different forms of treatment. Here are a few suggestions for those who prefer home remedies over other medicines.

The effective heartburn remedy in most of the cases is a home remedy or natural remedies. Heartburn is caused when stomach acid is pushed back into the esophagus, resulting in a burning sensation. There are other associated problems, like regurgitation, sore throat and chest pain. Further, if you have a prolonged heartburn, it can be serious, and dangerous if untreated.

Another good heartburn remedy is, not to lie down just after your meals. Allow your system, to digest your food properly, before sleeping. While sleeping, it is always recommended that your upper body is higher than the lower body. This will prevent heartburn at night. Other ways of avoiding the symptoms of heartburn are by losing weight and wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothes.

Your stomach expands when you have a heavy meal. This increases the upward pressure, and acts against the esophageal sphincter. Therefore, to avoid heartburn, do not create such negative situations in your body. Eat only the required quantity of food, which your stomach can easily manage.

Do not lie down, right after your meal, because, this will prevent the food, from moving downwards, from the stomach, to the intestine. Further, it will obstruct your digestion, leading to heartburn. Therefore, to treat your heartburn naturally, take a 5 minute stroll after your meal.

The biggest factor in reducing the symptom of heartburn, is adjusting your diet. Also, it is the cornerstone of heartburn remedies. Adjusting your diet, not only means eating less food, but also avoiding the food which is spicy, and replacing your high acidic food to higher alkaline foods. If you do not take these measures, then you cannot expect a cure for your heartburn. Also it includes avoiding smoking and drinking along with reducing the intake of drinks.

The natural health remedies include many herbs. These herbs can be consumed in natural tablet form or you can add it to tea or use it as ingredients in meals. Following are some natural heartburn remedies which act like antacids namely baking soda, Aloe Vera juice, apple cider vinegar and bananas.

Alternatively, people can choose from a number of heartburn remedies. It varies from home remedies to medicines prescribed by doctors for chronic conditions. Also your local pharmacy will have different brands of products, to choose from, without any prescription. The best way is to take these medicines, at the first sign of discomfort, to get faster relief.

Therefore, we can conclude that the heartburn remedies to ease your pain are plenty and varied. It is up to the sufferer, to decide which remedy he wants to proceed with. I would suggest the natural remedies, because, they are the safest and the most affordable. In addition, they do not harm the body, even if they turn out to be ineffective.
